The place where Bush has led us
At a recent rally, an agitated supporter of John McCain asked "How did we get to this place?"
The "place" that causes his distress is a presidential election with Barack Obama ahead in the polls.
I wish I could tell this supporter that I understand his pain. After the 2004 election, when George W. Bush had apparently won a second term, I was devastated.
I, too, wondered how we had arrived at such a "place."
In fact, after serving as a poll watcher, I went back to my hotel room, buried my head in my pillow and cried for hours.
As we look at our present economic disaster and the role that Bush's policies, or lack thereof, have played, my fears of 2004 were spot on.
This McCain supporter should rethink his definition of "place."
Does he want four more years of failed policies across the board with McCain or does he want our nation to turn a corner and return to the economic stability and world admiration of a previous America, as is the promise Barack Obama?
