Texas barely beats Cowboys
Looking more vulnerable than any other time this season, top-ranked host Texas needed a big defensive stand in the fourth quarter to overcome a pair of late mistakes by quarterback Colt McCoy and hang on for a tough 28-24 win over No. 7 Oklahoma State.
McCoy, who passed for 391 yards and 2 touchdowns, threw a rare interception that set up a field goal as Oklahoma State (7-1, 3-1 Big 12) pulled within 28-24, then fumbled on the Cowboys' 10 with just over five minutes left.
But the Longhorns (8-0, 4-0) stopped the Cowboys on fourth down at their own 30.
Alabama 29, Tennessee 9: John Parker Wilson passed for 188 yards and ran for a touchdown as No. 2 Alabama (8-0, 5-0 Southeastern Conference) cruised to a win over host Tennessee (3-5, 1-4).
Oklahoma 58, Kansas St. 35: No. 4 Oklahoma (7-1, 4-1 Big 12) scored a school-record 55 points in the first half en route to a win over host Kansas State (4-4, 1-3). DeMarco Murray racked up 167 total yards and 4 first-half touchdowns, and Sam Bradford added 3 TD passes before intermission.
Minnesota 17, Purdue 6: No. 25 Minnesota (7-1, 3-1 Big Ten) forced 4 turnovers and beat host Purdue (2-6, 0-4).
Michigan St. 35, Michigan 21: Javon Ringer, who gained 194 yards, scored his touchdown to break a tie midway through the fourth quarter, and Brian Hoyer's third touchdown pass padded the lead, lifting Michigan State (7-2, 4-1 Big Ten) past host Michigan (2-6, 1-3).
