NU's Sutton to have wrist surgery
Northwestern running back Tyrell Sutton is expected to undergo surgery this week after suffering a wrist injury during the Wildcats' 21-19 loss at Indiana on Saturday.
Sutton ran for 77 yards and a touchdown before leaving the game in the middle of the third quarter. He is out indefinitely.
The Big Ten's Freshman of the Year in 2005, Sutton leads the Wildcats (6-2, 2-2 Big Ten) with 776 yards rushing and is fourth on the team with 30 receptions for 276 yards.
"For someone who has firsthand experience with a major injury, I know how challenging this is for Tyrell," said Wildcats coach Pat Fitzgerald in a statement. "But our football team will respond. We always talk to our team about being one play away, and now, Omar (Conteh) and the rest of our running backs will have an opportunity to step in and help our football team."
