Knights, Osei roll to perfect MSL East finish

The Elk Grove defense couldn't solve Prospect quarterback Miles Osei on the ground or through the air on Friday night at Robert Haskell Stadium.

In a fitting season finale for the junior quarterback, Osei racked up 4 touchdowns on the ground to go along with 121 yards. He also threw for 278 yards and a touchdown in a 34-6 Prospect victory.

The win allowed Prospect (7-2, 5-0) to finish the season undefeated in Mid-Suburban East play. The Grenadiers (2-7, 1-4) mustered only 51 passing yards against the feisty Knights defense.

"We tried to treat it like a playoff game," Osei said. "We really tried to maintain focus. We should have played better in some aspects, but overall it's pretty good."

Osei found a big hole late in the second quarter, running hard up the middle and shaking off tackles. He burst toward the right sideline and scampered down the field for a 63-yard touchdown.

"All the linemen and receivers were blocking great and opening up seams," Osei said. "Everything was open for me all game."

Late in the third quarter, on Prospect's own 5, Osei found sophomore wideout Peter Bonahoom for a short pass up the middle, but the speedy receiver maneuvered his way past a Grenadier defender and ran the length of the field for Prospect's final touchdown. Bonahoom had 2 receptions totaling 131 yards.
