Obama not centrist he suggests he is
As a conservative watching Barack Obama in the presidential debates, it became obvious to me that he has shifted his political position far to the right of the far-left position he took at the beginning of his campaign. As an astute politician, he obviously realizes that to win the general election he must convince voters that, if elected, he would govern from the center of the political spectrum.
As voters, however, we must ask ourselves whether he has in fact changed his position, or if he simply is pandering to the voters who would find his original far-left position unacceptable. My guess is that he is pandering, and his governance, if elected, would be far to the left of where most Americans are comfortable.
I predict that, if elected, with a majority of his party in both houses of Congress, Americans would be served up the largest dose of Socialism our free enterprise system has ever tried to swallow. We have all witnessed the upheaval in the financial markets brought about by the socialistic lending practices of both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and if that fiasco wasn't bad enough Obama now says he wants to reduce mortgage principal as well.
Trying to mix a free market system with socialism is like trying to mix oil and water. There is a real danger that if Sen. Obama is elected we will see tremendous destabilization in the markets and the overall economy.
