Elect Weinstein to ensure diversity

I support David Weinstein for Lake Country Circuit Court judge. Although Mr. Weinstein is running as a Democrat, I feel this is a nonpartisan election.

Please let me explain.

There are no Democratic judges in Lake County. All elected Circuit judges are Republican. If you are Republican you might say, great! But look at what has happened in Cook County, a Democratic stronghold.

Circuit Court judges are the only people we elect. Once in, they can appoint without review associate judges, essentially for life. But what happens when one party dominates? As in Cook County, the ruling party may force Circuit judges to appoint those the party, not the judge, wants, including (to be blunt), less than excellent associates. A situation like this can be remedied when the judicial system is diverse, when members from both parties compete to add the best talent available, when there is a healthy review by the minority party of the actions of the majority party.

Mr. Weinstein is among those holding the highest rating the county bar association ever gives. Mr. Weinstein will bring the diversity that the Lake County judicial system needs.

We have excellent Lake County public services. Let's ensure that Lake County voters bring excellence to our court system.
