Pedestrian hit by car in Gurnee

A pedestrian was flown by helicopter to a hospital after he was hit by a car Thursday afternoon in Gurnee, firefighters said.

The accident took place around 4:20 p.m. near 1514 St. Paul Ave. Firefighters did not release the man's name, citing privacy laws.

The man was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

"I don't think the injuries were life-threatening, but they were very, very serious," Gurnee Batallion Chief Barry Henby said.
