Indicted QuadCom director turns self in

Indicted QuadCom director Steven Cordes surrendered to police Wednesday on official misconduct charges, authorities said.

Cordes and his attorney arrived at the Illinois State Police District 2 headquarters in Elgin around 2 p.m. He posted a $2,500 bond and was released, according to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

Cordes, 43, Lake in the Hills, is accused of using a criminal background search database at QuadCom, the emergency dispatch center he directs in northern Kane County, to obtain information about four people for personal use over the last two years. He was indicted Friday on 18 counts of official misconduct.

The QuadCom board of directors placed the eight-year director on administrative leave more than a month ago. His next court date is Nov. 21.

QuadCom dispatches emergency services in Carpentersville, East Dundee, West Dundee, Sleepy Hollow and South Barrington.
