Hoffman Estates

Where: Busse Woods

When: 10 a.m. Saturday

Who to watch: Palatine is coming off an impressive Mid-Suburban League title with five runners in the top 23 and is currently ranked No 2 in the state in the Illinois Cross Country Coaches Poll with MSL champ Sarah McIntosh and Courtney Brown. Hoffman Estates is also looking strong and had 3 runners in the top 18 - including Hannah Worman and Melissa Schmidt - to finish third in the MSL. Schaumburg continues to impress with Colette Falsey and Britten Petrey. Barrington, with Rebecca Tracy, Conant, and Fremd will battle for the final two team qualifying spots.

Rolling Meadows

Where: Salk Park

When: 10 a.m. Saturday

Who to watch: Hersey and Prospect entered the season with high hopes; both are hoping to use the regional as a springboard. The Huskies had Selena Clohisy and Ashley Martin in the top 13 in taking fifth at the MSL. Prospect's Annette White was 11th and is always a threat. Meadows's Christina Gastfield took seventh and is looking to continue the momentum on her home course. St. Viator finished second in the East Suburban Catholic Conference behind Keegan Griebel and Amanda Kompanowski and Maine West's Elizabeth Meier will also challenge.

Lake Forest

Where: West Campus

When: 2 p.m. Saturday

Who to watch: Buffalo Grove took second in the MSL for its best finish in school history and is aiming for its first regional title as the favorite in a seven-team field that includes North Suburban Conference runner-up Lake Forest. Freshman Olivia Jones ingites the Bison, but has plenty of help from junior Cari Geyer and sophomore Sarah Peluse.

Oak Park-River Forest

Where: Schiller Woods

When: 10 a.m. Saturday

Who to watch: Two-time state qualifier Jamie Johnson won the West Suburban Gold meet and will lead Leyden, which is hoping to advance to the Niles West sectional.
