McCain has spent his life giving back

I was flabbergasted by the letter written by Jame E. Will published in the Oct. 13 Fence Post.

As he said, John McCain always had an economically privileged life. However, I'd like to point out that instead of just sitting back and enjoying that economic privilege, Sen. McCain chose to serve his country by joining the military for over 20 years.

After his stint in the military, McCain chose to become a U. S. senator and has been serving in that role for over 30 years.

During those 30-plus years, he has fought time and time again for the American taxpayer trying to keep spending down by the country's leaders.

Now instead of sitting back and enjoying his wealth, Sen. McCain is working very hard to become the president so he can keep working to cure the economic and political ills in our country.

McCain may have a lot of money, but he's working much, much harder than the average person to help keep America the great country it is.

He could have chosen to sit back and enjoy a luxurious lifestyle, but he didn't.

I would feel much safer with McCain running our country than Sen. Obama whose very thin resume includes 143 days as a senator and who, when it came to voting, instead of making a decision, simply voted present.

Do we really want someone with such an extremely thin resume running the greatest country in the world?

Just because you're wealthy doesn't mean you can't empathize with the concerns of working people.
