Serving country matters, not politics
"A Nation Divided Against Itself Cannot Stand."
I believe we can all agree a very special man gave us those words of wisdom.
Sadly, they are extremely relevant today and we as Americans better start heeding them. For today, we are deep in a "cold Civil War" in which the divide and animosity between the "left" and "right" has reached frightening proportions.
Do the politicians mind? Of course not, with a constituency so busy hating each other and tearing apart the other side they can continue with the status quo, which is pretty pathetic at this point.
With Americans so busy blaming the other party, BOTH parties are not being held accountable. It is time for the citizens to demand more of both sides for (here's a novel idea) the good of the country. It is time to realize that neither major party has really served us well for quite some time and stop blaming one or the other. It is time for our leaders to unite and do the work they were elected to do, which is not ensuring re-election, but rather serving the people and the country.
My fervent hope is we can again be the UNITED States of America, not the truly DIVIDED States of America we have become.
