Cook County selling picnic tables on eBay

Money is tight everywhere but that's not why the Cook County Forest Preserve District is selling its old picnic tables on the auction site eBay.

But the thousands of dollars they'll make is still a nice fringe benefit.

The county is selling 2,000 all-wood tables for $10 or $15 each because it's gone to a new style of table that's more durable and cheaper.

The old tables are going for $15 each to the general public and for $10 to charitable organizations.

But the tables come with a warning label. They've been treated with a chemical preservative that's no longer used because it contains arsenic.

The county tells buyers on its eBay page they will have to sign a waiver acknowledging this.
