Car crash kills one in Des Plaines

Des Plaines Police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred on River Road at 6:33 p.m. Monday night, officials said.

A press release issued by the department said a vehicle was heading westbound on a private drive at 3000 S. River Road when it struck a cement barrier wall that leads to I-294.

Upon impact, the release said, the vehicle started on fire.

The unnamed person who died in the crash was inside the car when it started on fire.

Details of the crash will not be released by the department until later Tuesday, the press release states.
