Campton brush pickup
Brush pickup begins this month in the Campton Township Highway District. Collections will take place today through Friday north of Route 64 and Oct. 27 to 31 to the south. Limbs must be no more than 18 inches in diameter and 8 feet in length. Brush should be piled neatly with cut ends facing the road and should not be tied. Yard waste will not be collected. Wine party to benefit parade
The Geneva Chamber of Commerce will hold a wine-tasting to raise money for the Swedish Days Parade, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 21, at Fresh Market, 718 Commons Drive, off Bricher Road. There will appetizers and discounts available. Tickets are $25. To purchase, call (630) 232-6060.
Political sign rules
The city of Geneva reminds residents and political candidates that political signs can only be placed on private property. Placement of any sign on public property or right of way without prior approval of the city council is strictly prohibited, and such signs will be removed. As a rule of thumb, the public right of way is that area between the edge of pavement and the public walk. For more information, call building commissioner Chuck Lencioni at (630) 262-0280.
Donate hearing aids
The Geneva Lions Club recycles hearing aids for refurbishment. To donate one, drop it in one of the 20 eyeglass/hearing aid boxes throughout Geneva and St. Charles. For box locations, visit genevalionsclub.org.

The Batavia American Legion Post 504 is looking for the public's help to update its history files. It is seeking names and photos of past commanders from 1974 to 1982. It also wants photos of past commanders James Sykora, Glenn S. Crane, Edmund T Lally, Carl L. Christensen, Eugene L. Benson, Adelbert Leifheit and Merrill R. Benson. Marklund's 2008 Holiday Craft Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6 at the Marklund Hyde Center, 1S450 Wyatt Drive, Geneva.
