Federal officials were malfeasant

The public regulators did not regulate, the public supervisors did not supervise, the public overseers did not oversee.

The failure on the part of our federal government officials to properly handle the responsibilities of their offices borders on criminal malfeasance.

They are no better than Bernie Eppers (WorldCom) or Jeffrey Skilling (ENRON), and while none of them will go to jail, we will all pay the price of their collective failure.
