Iowa man gets death in teen's murder
GALENA, _ Attorneys for an Iowa man sentenced to death for the murder of a 13-year-old girl say they plan to appeal the sentence.
David Damm's defense attorneys say the penalty handed down by a Jo Daviess County (Illinois) jury on Wednesday is too harsh.
David Damm was convicted last week of hiring an acquaintance to kill 13-year-old Donnisha Hill and drive her body to Illinois in October 2006. Prosecutors say Damm was trying to cover up allegations of sexual abuse.
The jury reached its decision in a little more than an hour.
Damm was convicted of first-degree murder, kidnapping and conspiracy to commit murder in Hill's Oct. 27, 2006, slaying. Her body was found in Illinois.
