Truck mishap snarls Elgin traffic
A key traffic signal on Elgin's northwest side that was disabled this morning by an overturned gravel truck won't be fixed until after rush hour, authorities said.
Traffic was snarled this morning after a gravel truck tipped over and knocked out a signal at Randall Road and Route 20.
Elgin Police spokeswoman Ann Dinges said no injuries were reported and Kane County officials were directing traffic until it could be fixed.
Dines said county crews will be working on the signal, but it won't be fixed before rush hour begins.
The empty truck was headed west of Route 20 when it tipped at about 9:39 a.m.
Dinges did not know if the truck driver was or plans to be ticketed.
