Burlington man dies of injuries suffered in weekend crash
An Elburn man now faces aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol charges after a Burlington man died Wednesday of injuries suffered in an early-morning Saturday crash.
Ryan Campbell, 24, of Burlington, was thrown from a pickup truck when it was hit on the driver's side by a sport utility vehicle at 1:40 a.m. Saturday in a crash at Route 47 and Beith Road in Campton Township, according to police.
The Kane County State's Attorney upped charges against the SUV's driver, 57-year-old Earl Wilkison of Elburn, to aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, due to Campbell's death. Wilkerson is also charged with disregarding a traffic control device, accused of driving through a stop sign on Beith.
Wilkison was driving east on Beith; Campbell was driving north on Route 47.
Wilkison has not been processed, as he is still being treated for his injuries, police say.
Sheriff's police say Campbell might not have been wearing a seat belt.
