One charged in Silver Glen burglaries

A St. Charles teen has been charged in connection with a string of burglaries in a subdivision near St. Charles, police said Tuesday.

Antonio D. Carbonara, 17, of 5N002 Dover Hill Road, was arrested on suspicion of criminal trespass to a vehicle and burglary about 1:30 a.m. Monday while police were investigating a suspicious vehicle report in the Silver Glen Estates neighborhood, police said.

Lt. Pat Gengler of the Kane County Sheriff's Department said Carbonara possessed undisclosed property that police believe was stolen late Sunday or early Monday.

Authorities ask that residents in the same neighborhood check their garages and vehicles for any missing belongings that might help identify additional suspects.

"We know we have at least one other person who unlawfully entered a vehicle and probably a garage as well but we're not sure if the items (recovered) were stolen," Gengler said. "We're not sure where they came from."

Carbonara, who has no criminal history in Kane County, is free on $5,000 bond pending an Oct. 23 court date.

Anyone with information related to the burglaries is asked to call Det. Jerry Krawczyk at (630) 208-5353.
