Yard signs no sign of qualifications

The number of yard signs for the upcoming judicial race is astounding. Is this, however, the best way to judge a candidate?

When it comes to the office of judge, experience must be the determining factor. Both candidates claim to be well seasoned, but only Judge Patricia Golden has the courtroom experience as a lawyer, assistant state's attorney and 13 years as a judge to truly make this assertion. In fact, her opponent has no courtroom judicial experience! No wonder both the Illinois and Kane County Bar Associations have "Recommended" Judge Golden for re-election while her opponent received a "Not Recommended" rating. If you end up in a court of law, wouldn't you want a judge who has been there before?
