Wheeling man killed in one-car crash

A 21-year-old Wheeling man is dead after the car he was a passenger in hit a tree early Sunday morning in Glenview, police said.
Oleg Olienik of Wheeling was in the front passenger seat of a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette that was westbound on East Lake Avenue at about 3:30 a.m., police said, when the car left the roadway and hit the tree in the 1400 block of Lake Street.
The 21-year-old driver of the vehicle, whose name has not been released, was conscious when emergency personnel arrive, and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. His condition was unknown as of Monday afternoon.
Olienik was pronounced dead at Lutheran General.
The accident is being investigated by Glenview police.
