Villa Park teen killed in drive-by
A Villa Park teen was fatally wounded Friday in what has been described as a gang-related drive-by shooting at the corner of Roy and Victoria streets in Northlake, police officials said.
Police said 10 shots in total were fired from a passing vehicle at three people standing in front of a residence at the intersection. All three of the people were hit by bullets.
Rene Murillo-Gomez, 17, of Villa Park, was pronounced dead Sunday at Rush Medical Center in Chicago, after being transported from Elmhurst Hospital following the shooting.
Police said Murillo-Gomez was shot in the head.
An unnamed 16-year-old from Villa Park and a 20-year-old Northlake man also were hit in the shooting. The 20-year-old, who was shot in the foot, was in stable condition at Elmhurst Hospital. The 16-year-old was treated and released.
Police are searching for the car involved in the shooting. They said, after the gunshot, the car fled the scene north on Roy Street.
