Man gets 41 years for bank holdups
BENTON -- A federal judge says an Indiana man should spend more than 41 years in prison for robbing two southern Illinois banks.
The judge in Benton also ordered 56-year-old Rodney Messic of Evansville, Ind., to pay more than $49,000 in restitution.
Messic pleaded guilty to armed bank robbery and brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.
A co-defendant, 23-year-old Jacob Messic, has pleaded guilty to similar charges and awaits sentencing.
It isn't clear how the Messics are related.
Authorities say the pair robbed the First Neighbor Bank in the Clark County town of Casey in July 2006, then held up the Elkville State Bank in Jackson County the next month.
