Villa Park man faces drug charges after shooting
A Villa Park man has been charged in connection with a drug deal gone bad that resulted in a fatal shooting.
Aurora police say 41-year-old Esteban Rodriguez arranged a cocaine deal in an Aurora home on Oct. 1. Hector Valtierrez of Chicago tried to make off without paying Juan Herrera of Prescott, Wisc., for drugs.
Both men were shot and Valtierrez died. He was 28 years old.
Herrera is also 28. He previously was charged with first degree murder and other crimes.
Police tracked Rodriguez to a hotel in the Peoria-area town of Chillicothe, where he was taken into custody Wednesday.
Rodriguez is charged with criminal drug conspiracy, armed violence and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. It was not immediately clear if he has an attorney. He is expected to appear in bond court this weekend.
