Knights 9th at Sterling

Neuqua Valley won the 28-team Sterling Invitational boys cross country meet Saturday with 51 points, beating out Fenwick and Conant. Pat Lesiewicz of Schaumburg finished first at 14:54. Kaneland took ninth, and was led by Paul Davies who placed 30th and Matt Reusche, who took 41st.

Girls cross country

Sterling Invite: Schaumurg won the meet with 65 points. Iowa City came in second and Dixon took third. Colette Falsey of Schaumburg came in first with a time of 17:45. Kaneland came in 11th of 24 teams. The Knights were led by Andie Strang, who placed 40th and Lisa Roberson followed behind in 43rd.

College football

Aurora 45, Marantha Baptist 6: The Spartans outgained the Crusaders 450-123 as they improved to 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the NAC. Ryne Reder had 24 carries for 144 yards and a touchdown while Jeff Fellers ran eight times for 47 yards and two scores. Their balanced passing attack was ledy by Nate Peterson, who completed 14 passes to 8 different recievers. On defense, Matt Meyer had a pair of interceptions and Tony Muscara recorded a team-high 5 tackles.
