CROP Walk needs your help
On Sunday, Oct. 19, the Great Prairie Trail CROP Hunger Walk will be held. This will be the 25th anniversary of the walk. Over these years, walkers in Addison, Lombard, Oakbrook Terrace, and Villa Park have raised over $575,000. That means that more than $143,000 has gone to help people in these communities. As the walk celebrates its silver anniversary, recognition will be given to the oldest and youngest walkers as well as the dog with the most money pledged, the "top dog." There will also be a silver hunt along the route.
It's important to note that 25 percent of what we raise will help the Addison Community Switchboard, Outreach House Walk-in Ministry (Lombard/Villa Park), three local food pantries and four local PADS sites. This is two more agencies than were helped by the Walk last year. This means that the walk must raise over $8,000 more than last year for these agencies to receive only what they got in 2007. The need is clearly increasing.
So please mark your calendars and come CROP Walk with us. We begin registering for the walk at 12:30 p.m. and begin walking at 1:30 p.m. at Lombard Common. Together - with your family, group, or congregation - we can walk to change the world, one step at a time.
And if you can't walk on that day, or just want to broaden your list of sponsors, you can walk on the Web with us. Visit cropwalkonline.org to find out how.
