Marian Central (4-2, 3-1) at Montini (6-0, 4-0)

Suburban Catholic Conference

Game time: 1 p.m. Saturday.

Last year: Montini 33, Marian 0; Marian 29, Montini 15 (playoffs).

Last week: Marian 28, Aurora Central 14; Montini 17, Immaculate Conception 15.

Outlook: It's a shame Wisconsin-bound Marian Central quarterback Jon Budmayr can't stay healthy. Last season it was a hamstring, this year a broken collarbone. Nothing against backup Andy Stochl, but last year's Montini scores illustrate the difference in the Hurricanes with and without Budmayr. Still, with 6-foot-4, 285-pound Cody O'Neill, Brandon Smith and Kevin Green on the offensive line, coach Ed Brucker hopes to get a good ground game in support of Stochl. Montini linebackers Ryan Gorrell and Nick Erlenbaugh, who combined for 25 tackles against IC, will test them. Montini is also banged up after last week's win over Marmion. The Broncos lost top running back Matt Sloan to an MCL injury, top receiver Brendan Shannon to an ankle injury. Coach Chris Andriano said Sloan is out till probably Week 9, while Shannon hopes to play this week. The key here, Andriano said, is third-down conversions on each side of the ball. After 31 points the last two games a more well-oiled offense couldn't hurt.
