Make your voice heard at the polls
I'm fed up with the mess in Springfield, but I'm writing to voice my opposition to holding a Constitutional convention. Rewriting the entire Constitution is not a way to address specific problems in our state government. Blaming the Illinois Constitution for problems in Springfield is like blaming our country's founding fathers for the current inaction in Congress.
The problems we are facing today, including budget deficits and corruption, are not rooted in the text of the Constitution; they're a result of the current elected officials. The remedy for that already exists: It's called the ballot box.
