United plane with sick passengers lands at O'Hare

Officials say a plane en route from Boston to Los Angeles was diverted to O'Hare International Airport after about a dozen passengers became sick during a flight.

Chicago Department of Aviation spokeswoman Karen Pride says United Flight 167 but had to land in Chicago Wednesday evening because of sick passengers on the plane.

Fire Department spokesman Richard Rosado says paramedics evaluated twelve to fourteen people. Four were taken in fair condition to a hospital.

Rosado didn't immediately know what made the passengers sick. But he says at least some fell ill after smelling vomit on the plane.

United spokesman Jeff Kovick says the captain made the right decision to land in Chicago. He says 138 people were on board.
