Algonquin is set to kick off its red light camera enforcement later this month. Red light cameras are at Randall and Algonquin roads, Randall Road at Bunker Hill Drive and Algonquin Road at Main Street. There will be a 30-day grace period before police begin issuing the $100 tickets. For details, visit www.algonquin.org.

Huntley students net honors

The National Merit Scholarship Corp. has recognized three Huntley High School students for attaining top marks on the PSAT, a standardized exam that tests verbal, math and writing skills. Alex Albanese, Krista Bohme and Cassandra Myers are among roughly 34,000 Commended Students out of the more than 1.5 million students who took the PSAT last year. The students don't receive National Merit Scholarships but qualify for scholarships offered by some businesses and receive a Letter of Commendation.

Video Shootout planned:

Downtown Geneva will be the backdrop for an amateur film competition Friday. The Digitial Video Shootout will give teams 12 hours to write a script, shoot footage, edit and produce a 2- to 5-minute film. Certain shots are required, including a Geneva merchant. Winners will be announced at the Geneva Film Festival Nov. 8. The entry fee is $50. To enter, visit genevafilmfestival.org.
