Two arrested in Downers Grove robbery

Two men face criminal charges in connection with an armed robbery that left two other men injured Saturday night, Downers Grove police said.

Marshun D. Green, 23, of 6733 S. Artesian Ave. in Chicago, and Laron P. Croom, 19, of 2264 S. 1300 E. Road in Momence, each have been charged with one count of armed robbery. They were being held Wednesday in DuPage County jail.

If convicted of the class X felony, each could spend up to 20 years behind bars.

Police said the offenders were at a get-together in the 2100 block of Prentiss Road in Downers Grove when an argument broke out around midnight.

The offenders punched, kicked and smashed a chair over the head of one victim. The second victim was punched and kicked and had a knife held to his throat, authorities said.

Police said the offenders demanded money out of the second victim while the knife was displayed.

After the offenders left the apartment, the first victim was transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital. He remained in stable condition Wednesday at the Downers Grove hospital following surgery. The second victim taken to Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital where he was treated and released.

The victims were able to identify their attackers, police said. Stolen money and a television set were recovered at a nearby apartment. The offenders were arrested when the money and items were recovered.
