Suspect in shooting of teen urged to surrender
A Chicago family has told authorities they know the man seen in released images of a man allegedly involved in the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old girl as she rode a Chicago Transit Authority bus.
In an interview with the Tribune, Patricia Wilson told the Chicago Tribune she immediately recognized the picture of a suspect as a member of her family.
Wilson said she doesn't know where the relative is now, but that she wanted to plead publicly for him to turn himself in to a West Side church attended by the family, or call the church's pastor.
Police say a man on the bus Sunday night quarreled with another male rider, got off, and then fired a shot back into the bus before fleeing on foot. Kiyanna Salter died later at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
