Garage fire in Gurnee

Discarded smoking materials caused a fire Tuesday evening in an attached garage at a single-family house at 1449 Sutton Place, Gurnee. The Gurnee Fire Department was called out at 6:21 p.m. Flames were coming through the service entrance from the garage to the house. There were no vehicles in the two-car garage at the time. Residents were home, but left the house without injury. The interior of the house sustained smoke damage, said Gurnee Battalion Chief Bob Heraver. Grayslake firefighters helped douse the fire.
