'Playboy Bandit' not exactly another Hugh Hefner

At 5-foot-6 and about 190 pounds, the beefy looking gunman didn't exactly fit the ascot-wearing, pipe-puffing image pioneered by Hugh Hefner.

But his cap did bear the distinctive bunny logo that prompted FBI agents to dub the latest quarry in their war on bank robbers "The Playboy Bandit."

The bandit, described by agents as a white male, 40 to 45 years old and with a "heavy build," robbed the Charter One Bank in suburban Alsip of an undisclosed amount of cash on Sept. 11.

He also became the latest in a rogues gallery of bank robbers with catchy names courtesy of the FBI. The agents hope the names will drum up public attention.

A bank robber who showed up at the teller windows wearing a bushy black fake mustache was dubbed "The Groucho Bandit." One who pulled a stickup wearing women's clothes was named "The Cross Dressing Bandit."

A robber who wore old clothes was christened "The Second Hand Bandit." One who ordered his victims to count to 300 before moving after he left the bank was named "The Time Bandit."

In the latest robbery, the Playboy Bandit pulled a silver-colored handgun from a bag, threatened the teller and demanded money. He then fled on foot with the money.
