Gurnee delays billing

Some spending concerns surfaced at Gurnee's village board meeting Monday night before trustees approved a $78,180 engineering contract. Trustee David Ohanian asked that the deal with the Bonestroo Inc. engineering firm not start until at least December so the village can get deeper into its fiscal year, which goes through May. "This represents an employee for a year," Ohanian said of the $78,180. Bonestroo was hired for engineering on a culvert near Grand Avenue and Greenleaf Street, which will allow water from a Gurnee tributary to travel west to the Des Plaines River. Village Administrator James Hayner said Bonestroo will be asked not to start billing for the work until December.
