• Air Force Lt. Col. Joseph H. Viereckl has retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of honorable military service.
Before retiring, Viereckl was the program manager of the Special Projects, Plans and Programs Directorate at the Aeronautical Systems Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, Ohio. He was responsible for rapid development, acquisition, and sustainment of foreign military sale programs.
He is the son of Josef and Wilma Viereckl of Arlington Heights. His wife, Maria, is the daughter of William and Loretta Renner of Arlington Heights. The colonel and his wife have two children, Ellen and Marcus.
His major military decorations include three Meritorious Service Medals, two Air Force Commendation Medals, and the Air Force Achievement Medal.
• Air Force Airman Dane C. St. Pierre has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. During the six weeks of training, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization, and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches, and received physical training, rifle marksmanship, field training exercises, and special training in human relations.
Airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
St. Pierre earned distinction as an honor graduate.
He is the son of Linda and Joe Mancini of Rolling Meadows.
