Campton Hills police looking for van driver

Campton Hills police are investigating a possible abduction attempt reported last week by two children.

The brother and sister, ages 15 and 6, respectively, were in the area of Hunters Hill and Chaffield drives shortly after 3 p.m. Thursday when a man in a blue minivan asked them to get in his vehicle, reportedly telling them he would take them to a Bible study.

When the children refused, the van "sped off" toward Route 64, according to police.

The man was described as in his 30s with a slender build, dark brown hair and a receding hair line. There was no further description of the van.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to call (630) 584-0330.

"Even though this may not be a criminal situation... police would like to identify the driver and vehicle to ascertain the motives," Police Chief Greg Anderson wrote in an e-mail alert to residents Monday.
