Briefs: Help discipline in District 303
St. Charles Unit District 303 is looking for parents to serve on the Parent/Teacher Advisory Committee for the District Discipline Committee. The purpose of this committee is to review and make recommendations for changes to the K-12 District Discipline Policy. Members will take part in a process that involves reviewing the current policy, analyzing data, researching potential recommendations and proposing recommendations for the 2009-2010 policy. The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning has a GO TO 2040 "Community Conversation" at 7 tonight at the Batavia Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave. GO TO 2040 is a metropolitan Chicago planning campaign which will guide transportation and development patterns, economic development, housing, human services such as education and health care, and other social services for the rest of the century.
College night at ECC
Elgin Community College will host a College Night from 6 to 8 tonight in the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. Representatives from more than 140 colleges and universities including Marquette, Valparaiso, the University of Illinois, Coe College and Michigan State University will be available to answer questions about admissions requirements, athletics, housing and financial aid.
Batavia police as waiters
Batavia police will take over as servers from 5 to 10 p.m. Oct. 16 at TGI Friday, 490 N. Randall Road, to raise money for Illinois Special Olympics. The Batavia American Legion Post 504 is looking for the public's help in updating its history files. It seeks names and photos of past commanders from 1974 to 1982. It also wants photos of past commanders James Sykora, Glenn S. Crane, Edmund T Lally, Carl L. Christensen, Eugene L. Benson, Adelbert Leifheit and Merrill R. Benson. The Elgin Children's Chorus is looking for new members 7 to 16. Chorus members come from more than 55 different schools in 18 school districts.
