Village should take care of its own, first
The article, "Lawn care goes by the wayside at foreclosed homes in the village" infuriated me. Is Arlington Heights the town run by unfeeling robots lacking a heart?
The Board, Administrators and Mayor spent millions on the town Taj Mahal which was not approved by many residents, but they cannot cut the grass in front of homes lost to foreclosure? These former homeowners lack the money to save their largest asset. For Arlington Heights to charge them $105 to cut the lawn plus $50 service charge is outrageous! Arlington Heights will put a lien on the property if these charges go unpaid.
I have lived in this town since 1964. Every day I see something in the paper that shows me how little power "we the people" have even if we thoughtfully and conscientiously vote in elections. This town, this state and this country are going the way of the Roman Empire.
