McCain proves he can't get things done

Let's ignore blame and look at the facts: The Republican President and staff devised a plan to keep the country from financial ruin. At a meeting with the president and leaders of both parties, which occurred at John McCain's insistence, Barack Obama laid out specific additions to the plan to protect the public and limit CEO compensation, all of which were immediately incorporated into the plan.

McCain deferred all comments at the meeting but stayed in town over the weekend to work on the problem behind the scenes.

Three days later, the original bipartisan measure-yes, they actually worked together to solve a problem-was voted down in the House thanks to the Republicans who refused to back it.

A Republican president, Democratic candidate for President, Democratic and Republican leaders of both the House and Senate supported the plan, and McCain could not even garner the support of his own party for their own president.

Does anyone believe him when he claims he's a maverick who will bring both sides of the aisle together to solve Washington's problems? Get real.
