Two fires cause damage in Aurora

Aurora Fire Department crews extinguished two fires resulting in more than $50,000 of damage, but no injuries on Sunday.

The first fire began at about 3:23 p.m. at 1599 N. Farnsworth, the site of the Aurora Supportive Living Center, which is a senior living community.

The fire occurred on the second floor of the facility, causing an evacuation of the second and third floors. Part of the second floor was rendered uninhabitable while cleanup occurs.

Property loss was limited, but the building itself received about $30,000 of damages.

No one was injured in the fire, and residents were back in the facility as of Sunday evening.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

About four hours later, a garage caught fire on the 200 block of South Glenwood Place, the site of a single-family home.

The garage burned to the ground, destroying the vehicle and all property inside. No one was injured in the fire, but officials estimate the damage to be about a $25,000 loss.

The cause of the garage fire also remains under investigation.
