5 injured in Bartlett crash

Five people were injured in a late night car accident in Bartlett Sunday night, officials said.

Officials said a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, driven by an unnamed 19-year-old female, was heading southbound on Route 59 when it was hit by a 1992 Honda Accord, driven by a 16-year-old female juvenile.

The 16-year-old was attempting to make a left turn onto W. Bartlett Road from Route 59 when it turned in front of the Sunfire.

The 16-year-old and three passengers were transported from the scene to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the accident.

The 19-year-old was taken to St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates for treatment of minor injuries as well.

The 16-year-old was issued a citation for failure to yield while turning left.
