Plenty more where that came from

One of the great things about this country is the freedom we have to vote. In fact, it is our duty to do so. We should become informed about the issues and the candidates who are running for office. We then have the privilege to endorse and support the candidates that we believe are the most qualified.

Many people show support for their chosen candidates by displaying political signs in their yards. That is something I have done. I recently put an "Obama for President" sign in my front yard. Unfortunately, someone else removed it; well actually, they stole it (in broad daylight). Our neighbor told us that her daughter saw a truck stop in front of our house. A young child got out of the passenger's side and took the sign.

I would tell the people who stole the sign that if you wanted one, just go to the Kane County Democratic Central Committee Office at 700 E. Main St. in St. Charles. You could also sign up to do volunteer work for Obama. Realistically, I don't think you took the sign because you wanted to put it in your yard. So to that I would ask you to consider the Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." And one more thing, I can always get another sign, which I did.

P.S. Stealing is against the law, even when committed by a child. That certainly does not reflect "small town values."
