Judson's Dean wins again
In only the third meet of her collegiate career, Judson University women's cross country freshman Rachel Dean won her second medal of the season by winning the Indiana Wesleyan University Invitational with a time of 18:39 in the 3K race. The Judson team finished fourth out of five teams. The men only ran four runners due to team violations as Nick Sustersic was the top runner.
After a miscommunication by the Indiana Wesleyan meet manager, the Judson women's team had to run its race with the men for the first 2K before splitting off to finish the 3K race.
Even with the confusion, Dean ran a personal best 18:39 to claim first place in the meet. Abbie Dupont finished as the 39th overall runner but scored at 25 with a time of 21:01. Claiming the 28th point for Judson was Sandra Hubbarb finishing 45th (21:43) overall just 43 seconds behind DuPont. Crossing as the 53rd runner and 28th place was Lisa Reitz with a time of 22:40. Rounding out Judson's top five was Sharon Hubbard with a 29th place finish at 23:53 and 55th overall.
With his best finish of the season, Sustersic finished in the top 20 in 17th place with a time of 27:29 in the 8K race. The Judson men's runners improved their times on the year as Dakota West ran a 29:00 for 33rd and Robert Altenburger finished 34th at 29:08. Nate Faulkner also improved his time in the 8K with a 29:44 for 36th place.
