Fiedorowicz, Johnsburg roll by Knights

The question that you should ask about Johnsburg receiver C.J. Fiedorowicz is not what he can do, but if there is anything he can't do on the football field.

The all-state three sport athlete found the end zone four times Friday night, three different ways as the host Skyhawks defeated Grayslake North 49-7 in their homecoming game and Fox Valley Fox Division matchup.

Besides hauling in 2 touchdown passes from Skyhawks quarterback Jerad Grundy (10-15, 211 yards), Fiedorowicz showed his QB that he can throw the pigskin a little bit with a 29-yard touchdown pass to Thomas Kinney. He capped off his evening under center by taking a direct snap 10 yards to the end zone.

"I've been working a lot on my routes and cuts," said Fiedorowicz. "Those have really helped with the quickness and agility part of my game."

Grundy says Fiedorowicz can do it all: "If you want him to kick, he could probably kick too. He can throw, play defense, he can do anything, he's an athlete."

Johnsburg (2-4, 1-1 in Fox) lit up the scoreboard just 44 seconds into the game as Justin Peete (9 carries, 109 yards) ran it in from 12 yards out, capping a three-play drive that started with a 43-yard hook-and-ladder play. Brad Potts hauled in a 64-yard TD pass later in the quarter.

Grayslake North (0-6, 0-2 in Fox) marched 81 yards on their opening drive but could not put points on the board as a field goal attempt by Matt Robinson sailed wide left.

"That first drive looked pretty good" said Grayslake North head coach Steve Wood. "It just comes down to those little mistakes. It's a game of inches and you see what happens."

The Knights piled up 237 yards on the ground, led by Glenn Mizowek's 113 yards on 24 carries, including an 11-yard touchdown run. Fullback Mike Morales tallied 92 yards on 12 carries.

"They're both pretty good runners" said Wood. "We just have to be opportunistic and need to take advantage of the situation. We need to play a little bit better defensively."
