Adwatch: Carol Javens' TV ad against Sid Mathias

Democrat Carol Javens launched an ad against state Rep. Sid Mathias in the 53rd District Friday. Here is a closer look:

What the ad said:

"(Mathias) voted against funding all of Illinois veterans programs."

What else you should know:

Mathias voted against two budget plans that funded veterans programs. The budgets may have led to a $2 billion shortfall. Most Republicans opposed the budgets as well.

What the ad said:

"(Mathias voted) against legislation providing the largest middle class tax cut in state history."

What else you should know

The proposal would have allowed voters to have a say on a constitutional amendment to double the state tax rate on those making more than $250,000 a year and provide tax credits to those making less. Most suburban lawmakers opposed the plan.
