Two cows killed on downstate highway
CARROLLTON -- A Greene County teenager may have a beef with a cow.
Authorities say 17-year-old Cayla Davis of Carrollton was slightly injured Wednesday night when the sport utility vehicle she was driving hit a cow along U.S. 67 near her hometown.
A truck then struck a calf as the driver pulled over to help the girl.
Illinois State Police say Davis hit the cow after slowing to 35 miles per hour when an oncoming vehicle flashed its headlights at her.
The cow carcasses were removed from the road before authorities arrived.
It isn't yet clear who owned the cattle.
Davis wasn't ticketed.
