Gurnee police seek missing mom, child

Gurnee police have issued an alert in an effort to find a 4-year-old boy who hasn't been seen since he accompanied his mother on an errand Sept. 15.

Police said today the 32-year-old mother and her son, Spencer James Karp, were living with her parents in Gurnee. The woman's father reported them missing Wednesday, authorities said.

The father told police he last had telephone contact with his daughter Sept. 27. Police believe she and the boy could be in Chicago.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the 4-year-old boy is asked to call Gurnee police at (847) 599-7000 or another local law-enforcement agency.

The mother was believed to be driving a white four-door Dodge Stratus sedan with Illinois license plate G615549. Check back for an update in the Daily Herald or dailyherald.com.
