Ramirez makes his presence felt in Game 1
It didn't take long for Manny Ramirez to put his stamp on this National League division series.
Ramirez had 2 hits, including a home run, in the Dodgers' 7-2 win over the Cubs at Wrigley Field on Wednesday night.
Not only that, Ramirez walked with two outs, two hitters ahead of James Loney's fifth inning grand slam off Ryan Dempster that wiped out a 2-0 Cubs lead.
Ramirez was just as entertaining after the game when he met the media and was asked what has transformed him since coming to the Dodgers in a trade from Boston.
"Nothing. I'm just being Manny," Ramirez said. "That's it. I've been playing great everywhere and I'm just happy that I'm here in L.A. It was a great move for me, just to go and show people that the other stuff that I left behind wasn't true.
"I just want to come and get a new life and play the game, play hard and show people that I still can do this."
Ramirez, who added to his major-league record with his 25th postseason home run, warned that it's only 1 win, and Thursday in Game 2 the Dodgers must face Carlos Zambrano.
"You cannot get too happy and too sad," Ramirez said. "We've still got to (Thursday) and play hard. We're going against the best pitcher in the National League, and they've got a greater offense. We cannot fall asleep with those guys. They're the best team in the National League and anything could happen."
Ramirez homered in the seventh on an 0-2 pitch from Sean Marshall to make it 5-2.
"He did make a good pitch and I just drove it," Ramirez said. "I was just lucky to drive it out of the ballpark."
