Judge considers reprinting November ballot
A lawsuit that seeks to force Illinois to reprint its election ballots is heading into court, and election officials say they fear it could cause turmoil if it's successful.
The Chicago Bar Association and Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn are suing. They contend the ballots feature misleading information regarding a referendum on whether Illinois should hold a constitutional convention.
The state constitution requires voters to consider the convention question every 20 years. That deadline comes up again November 4th.
Some election officials contend reprinting and distributing the millions of ballots across the state would be virtually impossible to do in time for the election.
An afternoon hearing is scheduled before Judge Nathaniel Howse Junior.
